Aligned Providers Wyoming, an independent provider-owned group, is seeking an Experienced Rural Medicine Physician and Medical Director to join us in Oshkosh, Nebraska. This is a leadership role, with the right candidate also practicing hospital medicine and primary care.
About the Opportunity
The Rural Medicine Director role is a unique role that blends emergency, hospital, and primary care. The ideal candidate will be board-certified in Family Medicine, with a background in Emergency medicine and managing diverse and critical cases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality patient care in emergency, hospitalist, and clinic settings.
- Supervise advanced practice providers.
- Oversee nursing home care.
- Manage or delegate care for admitted patients.
- Coordinate departmental operations.
- Serve as a liaison and support hospital policies.
- Engage in quality improvement and ensure compliance with accreditation standards.

About the Community & Facility
Living in Oshkosh, Nebraska
Oshkosh is a small town with an approximate population of 800. It is surrounded by wheat farms to the south, sandhills to the north, and corn, bean, and alfalfa farms around the North Platte River. Oshkosh is often seen as a comfortable and quiet place to live. The surrounding areas provide a beautiful and natural resource for hunting, fishing, birding, and hiking. The North Platte River national wildlife preserve makes the area one the most important in migratory bird flyways. In fact, Oshkosh has had a healthy resurgence of wildlife, including eagles, elk, moose, fox, and more. In addition, Oshkosh has an assortment of shopping, art, dining, and cultural options to explore.
About Garden County Hospital
The Regional West Garden County Hospital, while small, was designed to provide specialty care for acutely ill patients. Its critical care room is equipped for providing complete monitoring of the heart and other functions. The facility also offers:
- Healthcare clinic
- 10-bed acute care hospital
- Patient per year avg: 3048
- 40-bed intermediate care facility
- Low patient volume (Avg: 1 to 3 patients per day)
Benefits
- 3 days per week (12-hour shifts)
- $140/hour compensation
- Monthly directorship stipend: $36,000/yr ($3000 per month)
- Additional hours at $180/hr. at our Torrington, WY location (if available)

- 1 year track to partnership (APPs included)
- No state income tax (if residing in Wyoming)
- Occurrence-based malpractice insurance (includes tail coverage)
- BERA account: $3500/year (FT) or $1750/year (PT) (Business expense reimbursement account)
- Sign-on bonus eligibility, as well as other annual bonus opportunities
Responsibilities
- Rapid Assessment: Conduct prompt and thorough assessments of patients presenting with acute medical conditions or injuries, using advanced diagnostic skills to identify critical issues.
- Stabilization and Treatment: Initiate immediate interventions and provide emergency medical care to stabilize patients, addressing life-threatening conditions and ensuring a rapid response to emergencies.
- Coordination of Care: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including nurses, paramedics, and other specialists, to ensure coordinated and efficient patient care during emergencies.

Diagnostic Procedures: Perform and interpret various diagnostic procedures, such as X-rays, CT scans, and laboratory tests, to aid in the accurate diagnosis of cases.

Procedural Skills: Possess expertise in emergency procedures such as intubation, central line placement, and trauma resuscitation, demonstrating proficiency in handling critical medical situations.

Communication: Effectively communicate with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals to convey diagnoses, treatment plans, and provide emotional support during stressful situations.
- Continuous Learning and Training: Stay updated on the latest advancements in rural medicine, participate in ongoing training, and maintain certifications to ensure a high level of competence in managing diverse rural scenarios.

Physical Requirements
